AIA WA Architecture Awards Feature

The Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) Western Australia Architecture Awards, is an annual event which honours and celebrates excellence in architecture across the state. The 2013 awards were held in the Perth concert hall. Kaynemaile’s submission was selected over 14 entries to sponsor the event by way of designing a feature for the main foyer.
The large cylindrical Kaynemaile mesh sculptures were installed within this environment as part of an on-going collaboration between Armstrong Parkin Architecture and Kaynemaile. The sculptures were suspended from the ceiling in the atrium and spanned 3 floors in height, creating a dramatic centrepiece for the event. These sculptures display the key ability of Kaynemaile to produce large scale seamless mesh pieces. Kaynemaile mesh is incredibly lightweight compared to metal meshes removing the need for expensive engineering and enabling easy installation.
Kaynemaile architectural mesh is made from a recyclable, fire resistant and UV stabilised high-specification polycarbonate making it virtually impossible to scratch or damage. It is easy to handle on site with no special protection required and will not rust in corrosive environments. Perfect for interiors and exteriors, from office fit-outs through to multi-story facades. With the ability to produce unlimited sheet dimensions we can provide a solution for any size project.
